Hello, my name is Daria Pardue. I am one of those people who have a hard time turning my creativity off. I am often redesigning clothing and the decor of other people’s homes and hoping no one notices. I am a wife and a mother of two super great kids. But being an older Mom sometimes I selfishly don’t understand why I am not solely concentrating on myself during this season of my life. Still trying to figure out how to balance my obsession with thrifting, painting, repurposing, designing, gardening and taking care of my awesome family. Ordering take-out again tonight….
I am often asked when I get home from rummaging. “What in the world are you going to do with that?” Luckily my husband has never once complained about one of my weird purchases or that our SMALL house if full of projects. (I am picturing a large barn in my future.)
I have been a freelance artist and designer for years and years and will do almost anything if it involves some paint.
In my younger days, I used to fly the ‘friendly skies’ serving delicious food and cocktails. I even had an emergency landing one time.
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a BFA in Textile Design concentrating in surface design. I had finished half of my master’s classes before I got some strange notion to switch gears and take pre-nursing classes. It didn’t work out. Know thyself!
Back in the early 2000’s, I was a few classes away from a Landscape design and installation degree when the Landscape business I started got busy. Hard work people! I still love to garden. It is good therapy and excellent exercise.
My favorite color is any shade of turquoise, and I have a tendency to overuse it.
Most of the time my first name is mispronounced. I am not the cartoon character Dar ee a. But I am Dare ee a. With an emphasis on Dare. I am a ‘fly by the seat of your pants’ gal, so my nickname suits me.
My hope with this website is that you will find photos and reflections from my life to keep you inspired, that you discover original, hand-made products for your wardrobe with my clothing line, Daria Pardue Designs, and store, The Gypsy Dragon, and that you will be motivated to tackle new DIY projects and crafts from my how-to tutorials.
